Sitecore Forms Extensions: Adding Multiple Submit Actions

How to add multiple emails or goals.

You may have noticed using Sitecore forms extensions that you’re unable to add more than one goal or email as a submission action on the form itself.

If you try to add more than one email or goal you’ll receive an error message like this one when you try to save your form changes:

If this is happening to you, it can be very frustrating.

But there’s no need to stress, because I have a solution to work around this issue, which we’ll explore in this blog.

First, let’s take a look at some common instances in which you might need to have multiple goals or emails as form submission actions.

Multiple Goal Or Email Submission Action Scenarios

The most common instance for having multiple emails on a submission action would be to trigger the send of two ‘auto-responder’ emails on a contact form: One to the form submitter, and one to your team to notify them of a form submission.

The most common instance for having more than one goal as a form submission action is to trigger another set of actions using goal completion marketing automation rules.

How To Add Multiple Emails Or Goals As Submission Actions

  1. Add one of the goals or emails as a submission action on the form builder itself.
  2. Head back to the Sitecore launchpad and click Content Editor.
  3. Expand Forms in the Content Editor, and keep expanding the form you want to edit until you open the submission actions folder.
  4. Right click on one of the goals or emails, depending on which one you’d like multiples of, and click Duplicate.
  5. Enter a new, descriptive name for the new item.
  6. Click Save in the top navigation.
  7. Return to the Sitecore launchpad.
  8. Click on Forms.
  9. Click on the submit button and scroll down to the bottom of the submit actions in the pane on the right.
  10. You should now be able to edit your duplicated submit action how you wish, and apply, save and publish the changes without any error messages or issues.
