Content Authoring In Sitecore From A Newbie

Does the idea of content authoring intimidate you because you have no idea what that means or how to start, well you’re not alone! As the office coordinator at Fishtank Consulting I was confused albeit intrigued by all the developer and Sitecore talk that was going on around me. Curious to learn and understand, I was given the opportunity to work with some content authoring projects.

Here’s how it went down….

A Little Bit Of Training To Get You Started

First thing I needed to learn was the HTML format, in the past that was the gibberish that would pop up on my screen and I didn’t know how it got there or what it meant, now this gibberish was intentional!

Sitecore Experience Platform - Marketing

This Marketing training course offered with Sitecore allowed me to work through the modules at my own pace and with a variety of methods to keep it interesting. I went through reading material, videos, interactive games and quizzes.

The following modules were offered in this course:

Digital Marketing Optimization Collection - The information learned in this module allows you to deliver targeted content personalization and ensure optimal customer experience.

Sitecore Experience Accelerator (SXA) Collection - The information learned in this module provides an overview of the essentials you need to build a website and organize content.

Web Experience Manager Collection - The information learned in this module makes it easy for marketers to edit and optimize content.

The Sitecore Marketing training course taught me how to edit the content I had authored by adding images, editing backgrounds etc., and then being able to get a preview of the webpage using the Experience Editor I could determine if I wanted to make any additional edits to the page/content.

Conclusion

The steps I’ve learned to date are just the beginning to my journey with Sitecore and Content Authoring. Hopefully this bit of information has made you just a little less intimidated because if I can do it, trust me you can too!
