How to Select the Right Sitecore Partner for Your Business

Looking to implement or upgrade Sitecore but not sure where to start? Choosing the right Sitecore partner can make all the difference.

Maximize the Potential of Sitecore with a Strategic Partner

Sitecore is a powerful digital marketing and commerce platform. It's also an extremely complex one, especially when it comes to upgrading and customizing your site. That's why many companies work with a Sitecore partner on their projects instead of trying to do it themselves or hiring individual freelancers. But working with a Sitecore partner isn't just about saving money or getting more value for the same price tag: It's also about being confident that your project will be implemented right and will deliver results.

What is Sitecore? What Does Sitecore Do?

Sitecore is a powerful and versatile digital experience platform that provides various tools and capabilities to help companies create, manage, and optimize their digital content and marketing efforts. It's particularly well-suited for companies with complex web environments, high-traffic websites, and a need for advanced personalization and multichannel marketing capabilities.

The platform includes a content management system (CMS) for creating and managing digital content, digital asset management (DAM) for managing multimedia assets, and a range of marketing automation tools for delivering targeted messaging and analyzing customer data. Sitecore also includes a robust set of analytics and reporting tools that enable businesses to measure the effectiveness of their marketing campaigns and make data-driven decisions.

What is a Sitecore Partner?

When you're looking to implement Sitecore, it's usually best to work with a Sitecore partner. These partners work with clients to design, build, and implement Sitecore-based solutions that meet their unique business needs. They can create custom modules, integrate Sitecore with other systems, design and develop websites, and provide ongoing support and maintenance to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Sitecore partners come in three different levels: Platinum, Gold, and Silver. Each level reflects the partner's expertise and experience with the Sitecore platform.

  1. 🥇 Platinum Partner: (I know the emoji is gold, work with me.) Platinum partners are top dogs who've shown exceptional expertise and dedication to the Sitecore platform. Platinum partners get all the benefits of the Gold partnership, plus early access to new Sitecore products and services and the ability to participate in Sitecore's Product Advisory Council. Platinum partners are required to maintain a minimum of eight certified Sitecore professionals and four Sitecore MVPs.
  2. 🥈 Gold Partner: Gold partners are the most experienced Sitecore partners, having demonstrated a high level of expertise and success in implementing Sitecore solutions. They have access to the latest Sitecore updates and training programs and receive dedicated support from Sitecore. Gold partners are required to maintain a minimum of four certified Sitecore professionals and two Sitecore MVPs.
  3. 🥉 Bronze Partner: Bronze partners are entry-level Sitecore partners who are just starting out in their Sitecore journey. They receive access to Sitecore's Partner Portal and training and support from Sitecore. To qualify, a company must have at least one certified Sitecore professional.

Behind the Scenes: The Power of Sitecore Training

Sitecore partners are certified pros who have invested in their own education and training to deliver top-notch results for your business. The training programs offered by Sitecore are built to help partners develop skills and knowledge in areas like Sitecore architecture, development, and solution delivery.

When you choose a certified Sitecore partner, you know you're in good hands. Here's why:

  • Quality assurance: Sitecore certifications are like a seal of approval. They mean a partner has the skills and expertise to deliver quality work.
  • A commitment to excellence: Certification is also an indication of commitment: it typically requires ongoing education and training from both the certification provider (in this case, Sitecore) and individual partners who want to be certified.
  • Up-to-date expertise guaranteed: Sitecore certified partners are continuously evaluated to ensure they're up-to-date on best practices, processes, policies, and toolsets. This helps ensure you're working with an experienced team who can guide you through every phase of your project — from planning through execution and beyond.

Choosing the Right Sitecore Partner: Key Considerations

If you want a reliable Sitecore partner, look for one that knows their stuff inside and out. They're not just knowledgeable about Sitecore's products and services, but also know how to use them to provide their clients with effective solutions that effortlessly meets their business goals. Of course, there's more to a great Sitecore implementation partner than just that. Here are some other traits to keep an eye out for:

  • Technical expertise: Sitecore partner should know their tech. Strong partners have a squad of skilled developers and tech experts who are familiar with Sitecore's APIs and can mix and match with other systems and technologies.
  • Best practices and methodology: To make sure things run smoothly, they follow industry-standard best practices and use a proven methodology for implementing Sitecore solutions.
  • Strong communication skills: Effective communication is essential for project success. A great Sitecore partner has a team of skilled communicators who can work well with clients, stakeholders, and other team members.
  • Ongoing support and maintenance: Sitecore projects need ongoing love and attention to stay fresh and up-to-date. Trusted partners provide comprehensive support and maintenance services to their clients on a long-term basis.
  • Relevant experience: Experience matters. Top Sitecore partners have proven expertise with clients in similar industries or with similar business needs as you. Before you make a commitment, explore case studies of previous work to ensure the partners can deliver tailored solutions across various industries.
